August 10—Getting Things Done with Lauren

The title of today's post is an allusion to the show Dead Like Me. I only saw a few episodes, but I remember a scene from one episode in which the annoyingly perky character Delores used a web cam to host a show called "Getting Things Done with Delores" that was about her doing housework. As with every time I see other people cleaning, it inspired me. The point of that being, I now have a new section of the site, Housework and Getting Organized. As of right now, I don't see much changing in that section, at least not until I move to The Woodlands in a few months. Like the writing guide, the housework section will most likely remain as is unless I think of something else I want there. Anyway, the housework section is mostly a sequence of tips for cleaning and organizing one's home. There is also a full page on laundry complete with an illustrated (by "illustrations" I mean "crude diagrams") guide to folding a fitted sheet.

Speaking of The Woodlands and Houston, I was down there a couple of weeks ago. I purchased two sets of sheets and washed and ironed them, saving one set for myself and giving the other to Kirston to make up for rent. While in Houston, I retrieved all my late grandfather's clothes from his house and brought them back to Austin. The vast majority of his things went to Goodwill, but I bought a laundry basket and put some of the newer things in it so I can give it to Kirston, who in turn will likely give it to Dom and some other friends. I anticipate being in Houston again this weekend so I can bring the basket down; also, I plan to bring Kirston some pastries since Greg ate the cupcake meant for Kirston.

Anyway, I've edited the code of the knitting section for better uniformity in the patterns. Also, I updated the pattern for Kirston's socks and posted project and pattern pages for the checked hat currently in progress. There will probably soon be another prank hat (à la the fag hat) for Greg thanks to the cupcake incident.

Oh, and I also made a couple of minor edits to the story of the LARPer. I saw him on the street recently, which led to a Google search, which led to his MySpace page, which led to a bit of schadenfreude when I discovered that the female companion he described as "really really hot" was in fact hideous. Also, I added to the Conversations page.

I haven't updated klutzy incidents or the political blog, obviously. I keep meaning to work on it, and then my Internet connection keeps dying, so I'll get to that in a couple of days, possibly Wednesday or Thursday. Tomorrow I'm working the load in for Wicked, so I'm going to be busy with that and then sleeping late the next day.
