February 1It felt like I had a lot of news. I guess I don't, really. First things first: OBAMA FTW! HELL YEAH! Yes, I requested Inauguration Day off so I could watch MSNBC all day long. I teared up as he took the oathuntil Roberts fucked it up, causing me to laugh out loud, ruining the moment. Still. I finished my Obama sweater while watching the coverage, and the pattern for it is now posted. Sadly, I do not have a picture yet since my computer sucks and is not recognizing my camera. I gave up trying to fix it and went ahead and posted the pattern anyway, mostly by popular demand since so many people have complimented me on it, including a couple of other knitters. Oh, and I just finished a lace beanie; obviously, I cannot post a picture of it. I think I will work on some socks next. Also in the knitting section, I finished the big project I've mentioned a few times, Dom's blanket. Dom is a friend of Kirston's who frequently crashed on his couch. Dom was always nice to me, unlike some people around there, so I decided to send him a knitted hat or something. Then one day at work I suddenly got an idea for a blanket for him and said what the hell and made it. I sent it to him early in January; he told me it was a great surprise and that he'd spent a lot of time wrapped up in it. Like the Obama sweater, however, I have not yet been able to post the pictures of it I took, so a shitty .jpg will have to suffice for the time being. My day job at Borders is going away soon since it's only seasonal. I've been looking elsewhere, but no luck yet since nowhere's hiring. On the upside, Bass Concert Hall just reopened after all the (underwhelming) renovations, so work should pick up there. I have not updated klutzy incidents since nothing spectacular has happened. I know, I know; it's supposed to update daily, and it's been weeks. Sorry. But I am working on telling some old stories in the space that would otherwise be occupied by daily mishaps. I'll have it up in a few days.
February 24My absence was not in vain. Sorry for the total lack of updates these last few weeks; I've been busy with both theatre work and the now-ended seasonal job. The Erwin Center has quite a few things going on this season, Bass Concert Hall just reopened, and the Long Center is freshly opened. My gig at Borders ended with me getting more hours than expected due to the premature departure of a coworker, and I picked up the slack. I was not pleased at the long hours, but I least I will get a larger paycheck. Speaking of paychecks, I did my taxes the other night. Provided I did it right, I should get a rebate of over one hundred dollars; but I'm terrified I fucked it up and will be fined. Still. As I'm sure I've variously mentioned on the site, I am part Irish. My dad's side of the family is mostly Irish, and thusly I have inherited some Irish traditions and recipes. I have posted our family's slumgullion recipe here. I have worked on some more knitting patterns recently. I have posted a pattern for basic socks, and I'm working on one for a Dead Kennedys shirt. Sorry, the pictures don't work yet. Also, I'm trying to decide what to do with a few skeins of red cotton yarn. I definitely want to turn it into a sleeveless shirt with some kind of lace pattern, but I don't really like most of the available patterns I've seen, so it's time to design. I would really like to finish the story of Mop and Nop that I've been working on sporadically for so long. I have ideas for sequels for it, plus other stories on hiatus that I'd love to see completed. In the meantime, comfort yourselves with a new prank. (I've also updated the rest of the pranks section, by the way.) And finally. klutzy incidents and the political blog have both been updated!
