February 15Happy belated Singles Awareness Day, y'all. I haven't been around much lately due to a disaster involving my late grandfather's house. I went to Houston about three weeks ago to move some books down there and bring others back, and when I arrived, I saw that the porch was covered in water which was running down the columns in the front of the house. I looked up at the clear blue sky with a worried feeling and unlocked the front door. Sure enough, I could hear water pouring somewhere in the house that sounded like a bathtub faucet was running. I prayed that it was only squatters, but of course it wasn't. A pipe had burst in the ceiling over the utility room, and water was pouring down and flooding the place. I got the next door neighbor (who had a curb key) to shut the water off, and then I cleaned up the water as best I could and moved my book collection (half of which was soaking wet) to my car. Back in Austin, I spread my books out to dry and purchased a cheap book press off eBay to help press the dried books back into shape. Some will need rebinding; many will need replacing. I'm hoping the insurance will cover the cost. The busy season for theatre work is ending soon, so I'm seeking employment elsewhere. If I can find a job at a movie theatre or film equipment rental place, I might stick with it, in fact. I need cash and I need to get out of the house, but I'd prefer not to do so just anywhere. I've updated the political blog and klutzy incidents. I've updated the post college section of ARSE with a bunch of new stories: the Sound Engineer, the Bartender, the Really Tall Guy, the Cobain-Looking Guy, the Professor, the Security Guard, the Guy Who Looked Like the Writer, and the Astronomer. That section of ARSE is nearly complete. I'm also working on a color coded timeline for ARSE, which is proving exceedingly difficult but should prove highly beneficial for reader comprehension of the labrynthine nature of my dating life. I went to a couple of shows recently, meaning I watched rather than worked for once. The Astronomer's brother played on 6th street, and I went to see. Then my friend Dom had a show; he gave me a shirt for free. :-D
