January 1—Ringing the New Year In

Happy New Year, y'all. I'm updating as I watch the Twilight Zone marathon on the Sci-Fi channel, which is more or less how I traditionally ring in the new year since I'm single and never get invited anywhere. Actually, somebody did ask me out, but I said no since I'm not interested in anyone other than the Astronomer, who is still out of town. Anyway, they showed most of my favorite episodes except The Big Tall Wish, which I love because it's how Bolie got his name.

Anyway, I've updated klutzy incidents and the pattern for the Milky Way hat since I'm not totally satisfied with how it turned out. I hope to have a picture of it posted soon since I just got a new camera and won't have to fiddle around with the crappy old one anymore. That means I'll finally be able to post some updated photos of myself in something other than my slutty Halloween costume, and I deleted those.

January 12—Knitting! and a disaster with an ATM!

I've updated klutzy incidents (including aforementioned hint at banking problems), the political blog, and the main page of ARSE to address a couple of questions that section gets.

I've updated the pattern for Basic Mittens to correct a typo and clarify a few points. I also posted new patterns for mittens, a beret, and a scarf knit with bulky weight yarn. I've reorganized the knitting section again; I created new subsections for socks and scarves.

I'm meeting the Astronomer tomorrow for coffee and a snack. I plan to give him an astronomy-themed puzzle box at this meeting, larger than the one I already gave him and cooler in design. The wrapping paper is the same as I made before, only this time I'm not stringing an insane amount of beads around it since the box is bigger, and the beads were enough of a pain in the ass on a little box. Anyway, I really love this puzzle; I anticipate helping put it together. It should be awesome. Of course, there's still time for me to selfishly opt to keep it for myself and just give him a Yankees hat instead . . .

January 13—Donate to the Red Cross, y'all.

As we all know, Haiti suffered a 7.0 earthquake yesterday. Many hundreds of thousands of people are in desperate need of supplies and medicine. Click here to donate to the Red Cross. I'll update again if I find another way to provide aid. I was considering sending knitted goods for relief, but it looks rather warm there, so I don't know how practical that is. Nevertheless, Haiti sucks even when it's good, so they need all the help they can get.

Somewhat relevant to the above, y'all may have noticed something new in the top right corner of the index page. Yup: I have finally caved and created a PayPal donate button so that y'all may now pay me to entertain you. I have no idea if it works properly yet because it won't let me e-mail money to myself to test it. So somebody else will have to test the waters for me. If it doesn't work, click the "contact me" button on the right hand side of the screen and tell me so. If I get any cash out of this thing in the near future, I'll donate some of it to a relief fund for Haiti. Obviously, it would be easier for y'all to donate directly to the Red Cross, but whatever.

Anyway, I finally got around to taking pix for my latest completed knitting projects, those being the Bulky Mittens, the Bulky Scarf, and the New York Yankees Hat.

I updated the political blog and klutzy incidents as well.

January 14—New Images

My first move upon receipt of a new camera was to post images of knitting projects. With that done, I've posted some updated photos of myself. Also, the picture on the main page in Knitting is new.
