October 4—I'm updating before work gets busy; then I'll abandon y'all again.

First and foremost, I would like to offer my consolations to anyone who was on campus the day of the UT shooting last Tuesday. I heard the news and immediately freaked out, believing it was Charles Whitman all over again. Luckily, it was nothing of the kind, but it was frightening nevertheless.

Now. For most of this year, I have only updated the main page of this site about once a month. I certainly haven't abandoned it in other areas—I update klutzy incidents almost daily, plus now that the politics season is underway again, I'm also updating the political blog fairly regularly. I also keep up with PAWP (albeit sans photos), or at least, I keep up with posting new patterns. Due to carpal tunnel syndrome, I haven't been able to keep up with much of the knitting itself. I also posted a page on sock knitting tips. Plus I updated ARSE with the story of the Republican.

Anyway, I will try in future to post on the index page more regularly so that I have something to officially present to the world.

Having said that, I'm not going to be around for at least the next week due to work. It's that time of year, folks; theatre season is upon us. Naturally, work picks up just as I was saying I need to update the site more often, or at least the index page. Never mind; work will give me money and stories.

October 17—Recipes and Whatnot

I've been busy with work the last week or so, going back and forth between the Convention Center and the Erwin Center. I was going to do the load out for ACL, but thanks to the local's business agent's lack of phoning ability, that did not happen. Whatever; I was kind of hoping not to do ACL anyway. Then I went to the dentist and heard the woeful news that my problem tooth that required a gingival graft two years ago may need more work. It shall have to wait, though, since work is picking up again soon, and I'm not working the busy season with seven stitches in my gum. Again. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the paycheck, which will pay for the dentist, the cats' shots, a parking ticket I got outside the Convention Center (crap), and the correction to my birth certificate. My middle name is Cristin, and it is spelled as such on the hospital record. The Harris County clerk, though, is an incomptent jackass and stuck an H in it, meaning my middle name is spelled wrong on my driver's license. So I have to fill out paperwork and pay a fee to get it corrected, and then pay another fee to get a new driver's license with the correct spelling on it. The birth certificate should have been fixed at the time really, but whatever. So it took twenty-seven years; at least it's fixed.

Anyway, work obviously produced a great deal of klutzy incidents. In other site news, I've updated PAWP and cleaned up the code in the recipes section (again). Also in recipes, I've posted a mini section in the Tex Mex recipes just for moles since mole has rapidly become a specialty of mine. Also in the Tex Mex recipes, I posted my recipe for flan, which I crosslisted under desserts.

Now. It's been a good long while since I've posted anything political, due first to no news and then no time. I now have a small amount of time, which I shall use to shamelessly plug

BILL WHITE FTW!

Early voting begins Monday. I shall be voting on my way home from working at the Long Center if I have time; otherwise I will go the next day.

October 19—Vote for Bill White!

I've updated klutzy incidents and the political blog again, as usual. I've also updated PAWP.

I'm working at the Long Center and the Erwin Center this week, the latter of which should result in some epic klutzy incidents and inappropriate remarks (it always does).

In the meantime, I would like to remind y'all—at least those of y'all who live in Texas—that early voting began yesterday. Get out there and vote for Bill White!
