"My Friend Did It"

On September 29, 2009, I received a blatant form letter on OK Cupid. I deleted it, so I can't reproduce it here, but I do recall that he stated his affinity for sports. He added, "I know you don't like watching sports." Befuddled, I perused my own profile and failed to locate any mention of disliking sports. Indeed, I've always been fond of hockey. I could only conclude that he had not read my profile and assumed I didn't like watching sports because I happened to be female. Naturally, I couldn't let that go, and I emailed him.

I would advise you not to send form letters without first reading the person's profile.

I never said I didn't like watching sports. I am very fond of hockey, and I do occasionally watch football. I say so on my profile. Even had I not mentioned hockey, it's still incredibly condescending to assume that I don't like watching sports because I'm a girl.

I also thought it was a bit odd that your email said you worked for an undisclosed employer. Why bother saying "undisclosed" instead of not mentioning it at all? 1.) It's NOT going to be that interesting; we don't live in DC; it won't be the NSA. 2.) I probably never heard of whoever the fuck anyway. 3.) For God's sake, it's OKC; does anyone on here give a shit?

He replied with,

I put undisclosed because we're not suppose to tell people. ^_^ I work for ——— entertainment if you must know and it adds an element of curiosity that tends to get answers back, and besides my friend was on my profile and copied an email i sent to someone else and sent it to you. Although i will admit you are cute, interesting and i would've sent you an email eventually. T'was not I. Sorry about that.

"My friend did it"?! Honestly? Jesus Christ. That was so stupid it wasn't even worth it. I didn't reply, not that it mattered because he deleted his profile not long after.
