Peas, I discovered, grow easily but also die easily. That plus you have to plant a lot in order to get any kind of usable crop. However, possibly feeling influenced by Mendel, I planted a bunch of peas in two different varieties. When the pods grew to their full size, I harvested them and discovered I had a grand total of about twenty-five peas. Then they all died. I still had a punch of seeds, though, so I planted more and grew more. Perhaps the next batch will meet a better fate than the first.
