As with the garage, the laundry area is primarily a utilitarian area with little to decorate. That doesn't mean it has to look as utilitarian as it is. Over my washer and dryer are some plain white cabinets which house laundry soap, light bulbs, batteries, etc. If you have cabinets, you can paint them or hang artwork on their doors. If you prefer shelves, you can match them to the rest of your house, or just keep coordinating baskets and bins on existing shelving. Also, you can use laundry baskets of a color which matches the rest of the house; in my case, my laundry baskets are dark green. As with your closets, you may as well keep the laundry area looking nice since that will encourage you to use it more. If you dislike doing laundry, keeping the laundry area pleasant will give you something nice to look at while you do it . |
