Striped Arm Warmers Pattern (in the Round)

Skill Level:
Intermediate

Materials:
Needles: #8 double pointed needles
Yarn: 1 skein worsted weight, black
  1 skein worsted weight, white
Other Materials: 1 stitch marker

Gauge:
~4.5 stitches
5 rows per inch

Stitch Explanation:
st(s)—stitch(es)
St st—stockinette stitch
rnd—round

Notes:

When working stripes in the round, a jog will form at the join since knitting in the round is essentially a spiral, and the end of a round is a stitch above the beginning of the round. There are many methods available for correcting this, or you can simply live with it. I was not satisfied with any of the methods, so I won't bother to include any here. Nevertheless, some people hate seaming (myself included), so I went ahead and made this pattern workable in the round. I should note, however, that even without working a seam, you will still lack a smooth inside of the armwarmer since the color changes create what feels like a seam.

Pattern: (Make 2.)

Cast on 35 sts with black. Divide over 3 dpns and join, being careful not to twist work. Place marker to indicate end of rnd. Work in St st, switching colors every other rnd, for about 8 inches (about 27 stripes, with the last stripe black), cast off with black. Weave in loose ends; block.
