Needles: #4 double pointed needles
  #4 16" circular (optional)
Yarn: 2 hanks Cascade Yarns Eco Alpaca 1518 or color of your choice
Other Materials: 1 place marker

Gauge:
6 stitches per inch
7 rows per inch

Stitch Explanation:
K—knit
P—purl
st(s)—stitch(es)
arnd—around
rnd—round
K2tog—knit two together
P2tog—purl two together

Pattern:

Cast on 108 sts. (Increase or decrease the number of sts in multiples of 6 for a larger or smaller cap. Alternatively, you could use a smaller or larger needle size.) Join, being careful not to twist work. Place marker to indicate end of round.
Work in K3, P3 rib till hat measures 7" from beginning. Begin decreases.

Decreases:
(Change to double pointed needles as needed.)
Rnd 1: (K3, P1, P2tog) around—90 sts.
Rnd 2 and all even rnds: Work even.
Rnd 3: (K1, K2tog, P2tog) around—72 sts.
Rnd 5: (K2, P2tog) around—54 sts.
Rnd 7: (K2tog, P2) around—36 sts.
Rnd 9: (K1, P2tog) around—18 sts.
Rnd 11: (K2tog) around—9 sts.

Cut off long end of yarn and thread it through remaining 9 sts and pull tight. Block; weave in all ends.
