First, this is the chart for the word "fag" in Morse code. It appears three times in the main pattern, but I staggered its placement.

. .—. . - —-—

This is the chart I designed for the hat.

Fag hat

This is the legend to the chart.

This is the chart in color. I left the symbols in place in case the colors on your monitor or printer are not the same as mine.

With size 6 needles, cast on 144 sts and join, being careful not to twist work. Place marker to indicate end of round. Work in K2P2 rib for 1 inch (about 6 rnds). Begin the chart with size 7 needles. There will be four repeats around.

When chart is complete, work decrease rnds in chocolate brown with size 5 needles as follows:

Rnd 1: (K6, K2 tog) arnd—126 sts.
Rnd 2 and all even rnds: K arnd.
Rnd 3: (K5, K2 tog) arnd—108 sts.
Rnd 5: (K5, K2 tog) arnd—90 sts.
Rnd 7: (K3, K2 tog) arnd—72 sts.
Rnd 9: (K2, K2 tog) arnd—54 sts.
Rnd 11: (K1, K2 tog) arnd—36 sts.
Rnd 13: (K2 tog) arnd—18 sts.
Rnd 15: (K2 tog) arnd—9 sts.

Break yarns, leaving a tail of about 8 inches. Thread through remaining 9 sts and pull tight. Block; weave in ends.
