Phil's Hat Pattern

With smaller needles, cast on 108 sts. (Increase or decrease the number of sts in multiples of 12 for a larger or smaller hat. Alternatively, you could use a smaller or larger needle size.) Join, being careful not to twist work. Place marker to indicate end of round.

Work in K4P2 rib till hat measures 8" from beginning. Begin decreases.

Decreases:
(Change to double pointed needles as needed.)
Rnd 1: (K2, K2tog, P2) around—90 sts.
Rnd 2 and all even rnds: Work even.
Rnd 3: (K3, P2tog) around—72 sts.
Rnd 5: (K1, K2tog, P1) around—54 sts.
Rnd 7: (K1, K2tog) around—36 sts.
Rnd 9: (K2tog) around—18 sts.
Rnd 11: (K2tog)—9 sts.

Cut off long end of yarn and thread it through remaining 9 sts and pull tight. Block; weave in all ends.
