Ribbed Hat

Materials:  
Needles:   16" #8 circular needle
  set of 4 #8 dpns
Yarn:   1 skein worsted weight in the color of your choice
Other Materials:   1 place marker

Gauge:
It's ribbing, so it doesn't have to be exact.
5 stitches per inch
6 rows per inch

Pattern:
Cast on 112 sts.  (Increase or decrease the number of sts in multiples of 4 for a larger or smaller hat.)   Join, being careful not to twist work.  Place marker to indicate end of round.
Next Rnd:  Work in K2P2 rib arnd.
Continue in K2P2 rib until piece measures 8".

Decreases:
(Change to dpns as needed.)

Rnd 1:  * K2tog, P2, K2, P2, repeat from * to end—98 sts.
Rnd 2:  * K1, P2, K2, P2, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 3:  * K1, P2, K2tog, P2, repeat from * to end—84 sts.
Rnd 4:  * K1, P2, K1, P2, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 5:  * K1, P2tog, K1, P2, repeat from * to end—70 sts.
Rnd 6:  * K1, P1, K1, P2, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 7:  * K1, P1, K1, P2tog, repeat from * to end—56 sts.
Rnd 8:  * K1, P1, K1, P1, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 9:  * K2tog, K1, P1, repeat from * to end—42 sts.
Rnd 10:  * K2, P1, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 11:  * K1, P2tog, repeat from * to end—28 sts.
Rnd 12:  * K1, P1, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 13:  * K2tog, P2tog, repeat from * to end—14 sts.
Rnd 14:  * K1, P1, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 15:  * Repeat round 13—7 sts.

Cut off long end of yarn and thread it through remaining 7 sts and pull tight.  Block; weave in ends.
