Materials:
Needles: 16" #8 circular needle (optional)
  set of 4 #8 double pointed needles
Yarn: 1 skein worsted weight in the color of your choice
Other Materials: 1 place marker

Gauge:
It's ribbing, so it doesn't have to be exact.
5 stitches per inch
6 rows per inch


Stitch Explanation:
K—knit
P—purl
st(s)—stitch(es)
arnd—around
rnd—round
K2tog—knit two together
P2tog—purl two together

Pattern:
With circular needle, cast on 112 sts. (Increase or decrease the number of sts in multiples of 4 for a larger or smaller hat.) Join, being careful not to twist work. Place marker to indicate end of round.
Next Rnd: Work in K2P2 rib arnd.
Continue in K2P2 rib until piece measures 8".

Decreases:
(Change to double pointed needles as needed.)

Rnd 1: * K2tog, P2, K2, P2, repeat from * to end—98 sts.
Rnd 2 and all even rnds: Work even.
Rnd 3: * K1, P2, K2tog, P2, repeat from * to end—84 sts.
Rnd 5: * K1, P2tog, K1, P2, repeat from * to end—70 sts.
Rnd 7: * K1, P1, K1, P2tog, repeat from * to end—56 sts.
Rnd 9: * K2tog, K1, P1, repeat from * to end—42 sts.
Rnd 11: * K1, P2tog, repeat from * to end—28 sts.
Rnd 13: * K2tog, P2tog, repeat from * to end—14 sts.
Rnd 15: * Repeat rnd 13—7 sts.

Cut off long end of yarn and thread it through remaining 7 sts and pull tight. Block; weave in ends.
