I was wearing my striped lace-up arm warmers to work one day when a coworker saw me and asked me how much I'd charge him to knit a pair for his daughter. Considering that he was one of my favorite coworkers and I already had the yarn on hand, I said no charge. We discussed what colors and pattern he thought she'd like, and we settled on black and white stripes but without the lacings. I went home and dug the yarn out of my stash and began knitting in the round. Because of the stripes, though, I encountered a problem trying to knit the stripes without that pesky jog. I wasn't satisfied with any of the methods for solving the problem, so I ultimately tossed them and remade them in flat knitting with a sewed seam. I've posted the pattern anyway since you can omit the striped pattern and knit arm warmers in the round, rather like the leg of a sock. |
