I've been a fan of Doctor Who all my life. I remember watching old Tom Baker episodes on PBS when I was a kid living in Clear Lake. Years later, they brought the show back, and I was ecstatic. I always got a kick out of the Daleks in particular. Perversely, I found them cute rather than frightening. My logic was justified when I saw this knitting pattern. I made it but didn't really want it for myself, yet I didn't know anyone who might want it. Then, at work one night, I told a coworker the story of Doctor Who, and I noticed that a different coworker perked up on hearing the mention of Doctor Who. Later, I looked up said coworker on Facebook, and he had a picture posted of himself wearing a Doctor Who scarf. I sent him a message, and we briefly discussed it next time we worked together. Remembering the knitted Dalek, I decided I'd found an appropriate recipient and gave it to him. He didn't say much, but he seemed to like it.
