I loved my red mittens, but when I bought a red coat, I could no longer wear them without them clashing horribly. So I decided to remain stylish and knit a pair of black mittens to go with the coat. I had two skeins of Lion Brand Homespun in black leftover from Dom's blanket, so I decided to use them to create mittens as well as a scarf and hat to wear with my red wool coat.
I realized that I could not use the same pattern I had before since the yarn was bulkier, so I experimented with the number of stitches and size of needles until I decided on 24 stitches on size 8 needles. The result was quick to knit yet still dense enough to be warm.
