Since I had knit black mittens in a bulky weight yarn to wear with my red wool coat, I decided to create a coordinating scarf with a coordinating pattern. Since ribbing is reversible and also matched the cuffs of the mittens, a simple one-by-one rib was perfect for the scarf.
