August 25—Rest in Peace, Teddy Kennedy

I always liked Teddy Kennedy. After last winter, I rather saw his death coming, but I nevertheless rushed downstairs and switched on the news as soon as I saw something about it on Google. Anyway, yes, it's all over the news and will be for a while, but I couldn't not mention it. Besides, absolutely nothing else has been going on besides birthers and deathers, and I'm sick of listening to their shit. I really couldn't even bring myself to talk about that stuff here.

Anyway, I mostly remember Teddy Kennedy for his appearance at Obama's election; everyone was talking about the hat he wore. Nobody really seems to be talking about that now; it's all about his brothers, which I think it's odd since they're long gone and he himself had a full life to devote to good causes—and did. He, as "The Lion of the Senate," helped enact more than 300 bills to help make America more economically just. He also worked with laws regarding immigration, cancer research, health insurance, apartheid, disability discrimination, AIDS care, civil rights, mental health benefits, children's health insurance, education, and volunteering. He described universal health care as the cause of his life. A hell of a guy.
